WHAT IS REPEACE USA?

Repeace (REALIZE PEACE) is a global online movement that wants to sever the ties between politics and private corporations. Repeace USA is the first phase of the movement. Repeace claims that all forms of activism are motivated by the desire to alleviate our fears. Since our fears are directly caused by the corrosive effects of corruption, Repeace is a peace movement for corporate and government accountability.

ARE THERE OTHER NATIONS THAT WILL HAVE REPEACE MOVEMENTS?

Yes. Repeace is a global protest, but its core demands can vary, depending on people's grievances. Repeace Egypt, Greece, and Spain are coming soon. All nations around the world can join the global movement by pledging their support at Repeace.com

WHY PLEDGES AND NOT SPECIFIC DEMANDS?

A peace movement has to be peaceful by definition. Direct demands have ceased to work because our politicians don't listen. Because they exclusively favor the 1%, the rest of us have had to suffer. Pledges are the most powerful expression of a peaceful movement because they can create a demand, while allowing the people to control the action and the response. In this case, the pledges are especially powerful because they create a market demand. Depending on the reactions from businesses and politicians, huge numbers of people can start supporting those who satisfy our demand. People become empowered with the power of the purse, which is the ultimate power.

IS REPEACE A POLITICAL ORGANIZATION?

No. Repeace is a non-partisan idea that empowers the 99%. Repeace is a virtual event, a peaceful movement for accountability behind a copyrighted name and symbol.

IS PEACE THE OPPOSITE OF WAR?

No. Peace is the absence of fear. Wars are subordinated to the concept of fear and they fail to define how peace should be achieved.

WHAT IS NEW ABOUT REPEACE’S FORM OF PROTEST?

Repeace is an online protest, not a petition or a short-lived initiative. Repeace is an ongoing protest that addresses a number of pressing issues, such as an irresponsible corporate media; peaceful protesters, who are being subjected to police brutality at the Occupy movements; and complacent elected officials, who ignore our calls, e-mails, and letters that express our growing discontent with our basic needs and rights not being met. Until meaningful reform becomes a reality and people can live with fewer worries, the Repeace virtual event is an ongoing one.

CAN YOU ELABORATE ON REPEACE’S 3 PLEDGES?

The Repeace pledges are the core demands of accountability against failed institutions. Although the demands do not specifically address education, healthcare, jobs or other policies, they are still very powerful because they express what citizens want from our institutions. Repeace uses an original and engaging counting method to quantify the popular demand, and hold it up as a mirror to our institutions. Once they unleash a reaction from our institutions, people will still hold the power to support businesses and politicians who comply with the public’s demands.

HOW CAN WE VOTE ON THESE PLEDGES?

Repeace has created three peaceful pledges/demands that all people can vote for online or from their cellphones. The Repeace pledges will be counted in real time and create the equivalent of a protest (a kind of "Occupy the Internet" if you wish). Clicking on the WORLDWIDE SUPPORT pledge makes you part of the global movement, and in the USA, you will be able to take 3 specific pledges. Capturing and measuring the public sentiment can lead to numbers that will be impossible to be ignored.

HOW CAN REPEACE DRAW NON-POLITICAL PEOPLE INTO THE MOVEMENT?

Repeace believes that all forms of activism are, at the core, actions that promote peace. Hence, it can unite and mobilize all activists, who support several non-profit organizations, fight for environmental, animal, civil rights, etc. and rally them behind this movement. Repeace uses a magnetic new symbol – a brand – to attract the younger generations to join a cause that has social impact, but is still simple, visual, and engaging.

HOW WILL POLITICIANS BE ABLE TO PROMOTE THEIR MESSAGES WITHOUT MONEY?

If politicians claim to be problem-solvers, they can come up with new ideas on how to adapt to the new situations. They can use social media platforms, such as Facebook and YouTube or create engaging websites. They can go back to using their copy machines and hold town hall meetings to inform and educate their constituents.

SO WHAT IS A GOOD STARTING POINT FOR PROMOTING PEACE?

The Repeace idea looks at peace from a new angle. First of all, peace, like health, applies to a single person, a family, a society, ecosystems, and cultures. For the purpose of peace as an invisible force in society, Repeace looks at peace as a balance of institutions and wants to mobilize people so that they can come together and reclaim their seat at the negotiating table.

WHAT IS THE EXERCISE OF PEACE?

The exercise of peace is defined as “holding accountable.” Repeace wants to reward good behavior and throw a bait out to the institutions that they can have an impact on, such as politicians and small and medium-sized businesses. Mobilizing millions of people and showing businesses that there is a huge demand for responsibility and accountability can unleash a number of responses from businesses who will be more than happy to receive such an increase in support from the public.

HAS SOMEONE IN THE NAME OF REPEACE ALREADY ASKED A FEW CORPORATIONS IF THEY WOULD BACK OFF OF CAMPAIGN FINANCING?

Yes. Despite the fact that Repeace is not an organization and doesn't have a staff, a few U.S. large companies have already said that their policy is not to fund political races any longer. When asked to publicly go on record for doing so and committing to their policy, they have not yet complied. We think they need to hear from you. So take the pledges and Occupy this idea!

WHAT DOES REPEACE USE TO ANCHOR THE PUBLIC CONSCIOUSNESS OF ALL PEOPLE?

The answer is easily explained in certain passages of John F. Kennedy’s commencement speech at American University in 1963. IF REPEACE IS NEITHER AN ORGANIZATION NOR A PRODUCT, WHAT'S THE BEST WAY TO DEFINE THE REPEACE ENTITY?

Repeace is defined as a lifestyle of holding our institutions accountable for the pursuit of world peace and harmony between nations. It would be the equivalent of exercising and dieting as ways of promoting a healthy lifestyle. Repeace.com is a social network that can become a news organization, a new hub for activism, and a brand of products. For now, it's an event in the making, behind a copyrighted name and symbol that hasn't earned a penny. Keeping the possibilities open to turn the brand into a product mobilizes the art world as well as millions of members of younger generations, whose language of choice is popular culture. Any new idea that strives to reach out to these groups can't afford to pass up the opportunity to speak to its audience in terms of products. There is nothing wrong with a brand. It's what corporations do in exploiting people and our resources in the name of profits that stigmatizes brands and products.

WHERE CAN I BUY REPEACE GEAR?

Repeace was produced and directed by a Swiss graphic artist, Drey, whose main purpose was to change the world. What started as an idea has developed in an entire concept and a journey of discovery into the psychology of peace. Shirts were printed and used for photo ops and many were donated as gifts. There is currently no staff nor resources in order for the brand to make profits. If you take the pledges and the movement becomes a huge one, we will soon be able to focus on the fun part, which is printing shirts and apparel. Obviously, Repeace will be a company that will pledge to not fund any political race and pay our fair amount of taxes as well as fair wages.
