About

Repeace is an online social movement that wants to cut the ties between private interests and government with a very simple method. Repeace wants to make accountability a profitable currency, at times where institutionalized corruption has become endemic. By rallying people behind 3 positive pledges (demands) Repeace creates a market for accountability and hopes to move small-medium business to new standards of social responsibility (back off of funding elections in exchange of support). The movement is called Repeace, which means "realize peace" and is inspired by John F. Kennedy's alternative interpretation of peace, from his 1963 Commencement Speech at American University. Repeace is not only a relevant project and a suggested solution, but the reflection of the current nations revolutions, which are, in essence, demands of accountability.

MISSION

Repeace wants to materialize a real demand for social responsibility, specifically the withdrawal from political spending of elections by private businesses. Demands create offers, especially when there is money involved.

Repeace.com will be creating and measuring those demands and holding them up to our institutions. The demands for accountability reflect John F. Kennedy " series of concrete actions and agreements" when he spoke about peace in 1963:

“I’m talking about genuine peace, the kind of peace that makes life on earth worth living, the kind that enables men and nations to grow and to hope and to build a better life for their children – not merely peace for Americans, but peace for all men and women – not merely peace in our time, but peace for all time.”

JFK also said:

“Let us focus instead on a more practical, more attainable peace – based not on a sudden revolution in human nature, but on a gradual evolution in human institutions – on a series of concrete actions and effective agreements which are in the interest of all concerned.

“A series of concrete actions and effective agreements, which are in the interest of all concerned,” are what Repeace is proposing and those agreements are based on the need for more accountability.

Politicians and corporations ignore the demand for accountability because they profit from doing so. They all line their pockets by being dishonest and helping each other. Think of the old adage, “You scratch my back and I’ll scratch yours.” But what if the public demand for accountability was measured and held up to all institutions like a big mirror? That’s what Repeace.com wants to do. We want to help the collective set new rules for accountability, transparency, and social responsibility and to define accountability as the currency to be traded by institutions.
